Gramercy
Gramercy

Bordered by East 23rd Street on the north, Fifth Avenue to the west, 17th Street to the south and the East River, this area is named after Gramercy Park. Developed in 1831, it is the only private park that remains in New York. When 66 lots were initially developed around the park’s perimeter (20th and 21st Street, between Park Avenue South and Third Avenue), the buyers of the lots were each given a gold key to the park. To this day, you still need a key to access the park.
